I am so happy to be starting this blog to keep everyone up to date on my training for the Pan-Mass challenge as well as keep everyone up to date on my life.

Help me make a difference in cancer research and treatment

The Pan-Mass challenge bike ride supports Dana-Farber, the leading institute for cancer research and treatment. If you donate to my ride, you’ll be helping us work toward a world without cancer

I’ve been recording a few videos to let everyone in on my life and training. Check it out!

It’s been a busy few weeks! Here’s an overview of my training and life updates

Life

The move

The big headline of the last few weeks is Kayla and I moving in together into a new apartment!

It’s not too far from the old one but it makes a world of difference (read laundry in the apartment rather than across the street). It was a quick turnaround as we viewed the apartment in the end of May, signed the lease on June 8th, and moved in on June 21st. That’s the New York apartment market for you.

There’s still a lot of unpacking to do, but it’s already starting to feel like home.

Work

Kayla has the biggest work update, with her finishing her Clinical Fellowship as a Speech and Language Pathologist. She spent the last 9 months traveling to patient’s homes who were too medically complex to be seen regularly in the hospital and administered feeding and swallowing care. Many of her patient’s families told her she was the best Speech Pathologist they’d ever had. Not bad for 9 months on the job! Now fully certified, she is starting the search for a new position in a hospital focusing on feeding and swallowing in children.

I finished up my case at Bain and spent a week in Miami (hot, hot, hot) for a training. It was a great experience where I met people from all over the world. After getting back I just started on a case working for a large beverage manufacturer working on their forward looking strategy. Should be a ton of fun!

Smoke

The beginning of the month was marked by a few days of rough smoke from the Canadian wildfires. It really was quite a sight from my office as the smoke rolled in on June 7th. It was fortunately pretty short lived but made it a bit tough to get outside during those few days

So many weddings to attend, so little time

To start off the 4th of July weekend we traveled to Minneapolis to attend Kayla’s longtime friend Leslie and her now husband Rex’s wedding. It was a beautiful night and just the start of a slew of weddings we have scheduled for the rest of the summer (4 more between now and Labor Day). I’ll try to get some time in between the weddings to get some training in.

See you all in the next one!
